#4 Pip J Squeak, The Brave Little Gerbil
November 4, 2009
Here’s my fourth character: Pip J. Squeak, the Brave Little Gerbil…
I added a sliver of a background just to illustrate why he’s dressed warmer than your average gerbil… Much like Yngvie J. Malmsteen, Pip Sqeak uses his middle ‘J’ initial to separate himself from all of the other ‘Pip Squeaks’ out there.
And PLEASE!!! No gerbil jokes… I’ve heard that one and it’s not so much funny as it’s just gross…

Pip is cute and I think it’s an awesome thing to have a Yngwie connection/tribute for a character.
Pip does look a bit hungry… like he’s got a bit of a dark side to him (or wants to steal my food). Don’t know if that’s a goal/hidden message or just a style thing.
Weird coinidence, but Yngvie’s ‘Trilogy Op Suite:5’ just came on my iTunes while I’m typing this. Maybe I should have strapped a tiny guitar on his back… And yes, Rob, gerbils do have a dark side. Some consider gerbils some of the most vile, cunning creatures in the animal kingdom…
I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but I’ll look it up. Very well rendered Crash. Love the little tassles on his scarf.
Thanks for noticing the tassles, Dan. I think you feel the same way that I do (it shows in your work)… the little details matter.
friggin fantasic rendering and coloring
this is awesome!
