#7. Jin Legato – Pro Musician

November 8, 2009

Jin Legato (another new minor Art Geek Zoo character) is a highly accomplished band and session player at a low place in his career. Jin was often recognized by the now defunct Rad Keytarist Magazine and given the title of “Keytarist of the Century”.

His career took a bad turn when he was a member of Sad Dragon. Jin got into a serious argument with the band’s guitarist. Soon after Jin was fired and had a hard time finding well-paying gigs. Tired of trying to swim upstream to regain his former glory, Jin is content to appreciate his humble routine of 1-2 gigs a week.

He’s so comfortable in his current routine that the last things he wants to be around are big studio recordings and wealthy bands. He especially doesn’t want to deal with mystical instruments and musicians that mess with the “way of sound mumbo jumbo”.

So why is it that the keytar is always funny? Love the gray fuzzy cat look – does Paper get modeling royalties?

(“Paper” is the name of Rob’s gray fuzzy cat)

Keytars have inherent comic value like the words “pants” and “sandwich”. All three must be used responsibly.

Nope, no cat rolalty fees. Real life cats in my house get me as a caregiver but no moolah. 🙂

So a little shout out to the family cat eh? I like the character, you’re doing some incredible stuff over here at 30 in 30, really adding to the AGZ library.

Thanks, I can’t wait to have some of these AGZ 30/30 characters start to appear in the comic.
